ORAL PATHOLOGY/ ORAL BIOPSY

The lining of the oral cavity is smooth and coral pink in color.  Lumps, bumps, and discolorations in the oral cavity may be abnormal.   Dr. Munarov works in conjunction with an Oral Pathologist to diagnose these abnormal findings.  The first step in diagnosis of suspicious lesions is a clinical examination followed by an oral biopsy procedure if deemed necessary.  During the biopsy procedure, a sample of the abnormal tissue is excised or removed and submitted for microscopic review by a board certified oral pathologist.  Biopsy results can take anywhere between 1 to 2 weeks to obtain.  Once a diagnosis is made, Dr. Munarov will meet and discuss with you the next necessary steps needed to treat the pathology or the abnormal tissue.
